Election 2020

This is a project I've been working on here and there over the past couple years. I was hoping to have this complete by the 2020 election, but I'm writing this two days before it. I had had made it a goal to publish all my research on voter suppression by now, but work and life has stood in the way. I still want to share this before Tuesday, so I am posting the current state of my notes on the topics I had been gathering on voter suppression. My goal was to provide a 10,000 foot view of all the tactics being used to suppress the vote in the United States, but this surprisingly, easily became too broad and deep a subject than I could meaningfully manage.

In my mind, this invalidates every claim that American conservatives make to “individual liberty” as it seems that a person has a right to liberty only as long as they agree with a conservative philosophy.  Protecting ones rights, and fighting against authoritarian government are the biggest Republican talking points, but this doesn’t seem valid anymore if they are willing to undermine our most fundamental right, choosing our leaders and government.

So here it is, my research on voting rights. Even in the time I started writing this series, I've discovered new, and troubling methods being used to suppress voting. I do have more notes, which aren't much more than a collection of links at this point. Let me know if you find this interesting, and if you feel that I have left off anything worth mentioning.

I plan to maintain this section as a part of this site, and will add to it in the future. I also will continue to maintain the Wisconsin voter registration list tracker when I can.
